Heat & Heartache!

This 3-day weekend was CRAZY hot!!!! It was between 90-100 with 5000% humidity the entire time!!!! We hit some good memorial day sales and got a dishwasher, microwave, and a pool! Yup, you read that right, we got a pool! It took Dylan and I about 3 hours to get our redneck sanctuary all set up.....

It was the middle of the day and Sat, and we both were sweating out butts off!!! Once the pool was up, we decided we needed to take it to the next level......

that's right, we built a deck! We used scaffolding from Dylan's shop, cut in half and bolted down a rug, put some furniture up there, and we were go to go!

We started filling it up (it took FOREVER) but lack of water didn't stop us from having fun!

We stayed in that pool ALL weekend long! We even had Dylan's brother and his family over on memorial day to swim!!!

Where we placed the pool was extremely uneven and Monday morning (before our swim/BBQ party lol) we decided that when we were done Monday night, we needed to drain the pool so we can move it to more level ground! The weight with the water was putting extreme pressure on the metal legs! So when we were done (about 5:30) we hooked the hose up to the plug and began to drain the pool! Matt is coming this next weekend so we wanted everything to be moved and ready for him and Kali! This morning I got up and went for my lil walk at 5:30 with my sister-in-law, and the pool was about drained!!! A couple hours later we got some heavy rain and Dylan and I laughed about how the pool would NEVER finish draining if this rain continues! Well the rain stopped for a few hours and when the boys got up from their naps I took them back over to our house (where I spend most my time-unpacking and getting it move-in ready). It looked like the rain was gonna start up again, so they boys and I drove Dylan's truck instead of walking. As soon as we pulled up to the house the heavy rain came pouring down in sheets! Luke (who is doing our tile) came out front to help me bring the boys inside! We still don't have a porch so it's a 4 ft climb in the front door! Not to mention the fact that I was rockin flip-flops& it's all mud right there! I was very grateful for his help! The boys went upstairs and started playing in their playroom. Luke and were standing in the dining room discussing what else needed to get done on the house. I looked out the dining room window and stopped mid-sentence when I saw the trees going crazy and rain EVERYWHERE! The wind was so bad it opened the back doors on my house! Luke and I used a piece of the couch to barricade the doors closed! All of a sudden Luke's helper, Manny came out from my bedroom and said there was a window in the bathroom that was leaking. Luke and I went in there, only to find that ALL the windows were leaking! They were leaking not only where they were framed in, but where the window itself opens! The rain was coming sideways and there was nothing we could do to do stop it coming in. I ran down to the basement and opened the boxes from our trailer and grabbed ALL the towels I could find! We went and dried off the furniture, floors, and walls the best we could, then started on the upstairs, where the water got all over the carpet and just soaked the walls there! Dylan came from the shop with more towels and we all ran around trying to prevent a stinkin flood in my brand new house! I took some towels to the basement and the garage doors were still open, so rain was all over the garage dolor also. I didn't have shoes on and my feet were about an inch deep in mud water! I looked outside and stated laughing about the whole thing....then I saw more damage from this darn storm.....

Yes...that is my pool! Guess we picked a terrible time to drain it, huh? The metal frame is completely bent and broken! We bought the warranty....you think owner stupidity is covered under that?!? SO, not sure we will have our redneck sanctuary ready for Matt after all........

  1. To quote Jacon... Are you Kidding me what you're saying right now?!
Did you see any funnel clouds? Was there anyone walking around saying "something tells me we're not in Kansas any more?!?" Not only do you have to clean up the new house, it sounds like you have a lot of laundry to do! Good thing towels are easy.

I am so sorry the it rained inside your house!...and inside your walls! I'm sure Luke and Dylan will make sure that won't happen again! At least you were there when it happened, and it didn't happen in the middle of the night, when no one was around to protect your furniture & walls etc!!! If your house was going to leak, I guess it happened at a good time. I am just sad the your redneck pool got blown over and bent up in of this! Mema wants to hang out in the pool with the boys in 10 days! But who's counting!
Love you, and love your positive outlook! We can paint any walls that need touch up when I get there! Flip your pool back over, fill it up, and let's play!
    Love you!

    1. I wish it was that simple! There are rips in it and the frame completely broke in more than one place! It is no more! Praying we can use the warranty...if we can find the dumb thing! Pretty much just a HUGE fail!
