Jaxon Squared

Well, both my boys are another year older...and I'm a another year sadder lol! It's going by so quick! Jax had a great birthday...still can't believe he's 5(and starting kindergarten in a couple weeks). We had a fun-filled day....starting with a 45 minute drive to Jackson (one of my favorite big cities)!

It poured rain on our trip...so we did all in-door activities...you get wet in this humidity and you stay wet all day...true story!

First stop...lunch and games at Chuck E. Cheese!!!

A token crown for the birthday boy (and his lil brother...since his birthday just passed).

Fun fact: Kazen HATED Chuck E.....that over-sized rodent scared the day lights outta him...which caused Dylan and I to burst out with uncontrollable laughter...straight up hilarious!!!
Next stop....movie theatre!!!
Took the boys to see Ice Age (saw Brave last weekend...boys do really well in the theatre)!

...and Kazen is showing off his silly puddy from Chuck E. Cheese!
Next stop...coffee!!!!!
With some good ol fashion silly car pix while we waited for daddy to get our Starbucks (no drive thru=fail).....

Me and my mini me!!!
After a trip to Target and Marshalls (don't worry, the boys got new toys...wasn't just a mommy stop-even tho those r my favorite stores) we took the birthday boy to his favorite restaurant, Red Robin!

We had a great time as a family, it was a perfect day!!!!!!!

Storms & sombreros

Because Jax will be turning 5 tomorrow, we thought we'd start his birthday weekend off by letting him pick where we ate out tonight (we go out every Friday night:). He picked one of his favorites, "the Mexican place with the red roof"! Dylan told the waiter it was Jaxon's birthday and he was serenaded! He got to wear a ginormous sombrero and the owner even put whipped cream and chocolate on his nose...it was awesome! He told me after...."Mommy, I was only a lil nervous"...so cute!

When we got ready to leave, he sadly asked if he had to give the hat back...& of corse I explained to him that he had to and why...so on and so on. Well, the hostess was so sweet, she gave Jax a different sombrero that he could keep! He was so excited!!!!

After dinner we took the boys to this hole in the wall play place. It was super ghetto, but the only place in town to play games, mini golf, laser tag, ride a train, jump in bouncer (yes, singular). It may sound like a lot...but it's pretty busted! Either way, it's all we got local, so we thought we'd give it a try. The boys had a lot of fun. They went in the hurricane machine....

....and thought that was the coolest thing ever!!! They had fun jumping in the bouncer and riding the train...which totally hauled butt!

Overall, GREAT family night! Much more fun planned for tomorrow or corse...hopefully the weather will be nicer......

We've had the craziest storms here lately. Not cold....hot and muggy....Gloomy days, scary loud thunder and lightning!!! We are told they aren't anything to worry about....but that thunder roars pretty stinkin loud and shakes the house. Two nights in the last couple weeks have ended up like this......

My poor lil guys were VERY scared, so we tried to keep them as calm as possible! Of corse I got absolutely no sleep!!! There's a reason I've never let my kids sleep in my bed...lol, this was the exception!!! After going through many days of these "harmless" storms, I'm thankful I have that safe room for next seasons scary ones!!! Here are some pix I've taken of this beautiful rain...I LOVE the rain!!!!

I actually love the gloomy weather, rain, clouds, all of it....I do like it better when it's cold, but I'll deal! Lol. It's been a nice break from the extreme heat!!! Anyway....more soon, can't believe my baby will be 5 tomorrow!!!!! CRAZY!!!!!!

Catching up on the last month!

it feels like things here just haven't slowed down for a second! My parents came out...my dad stayed for a few days and my mom stayed for a couple weeks. My dad played catch with Jaxon & got tons of hugs and kisses in!

My dad also learned about "living in the sticks" when he listened to his lil grandboys that told him it was ok to go for a walk in the woods! Between the 3 of them there were 18ticks! Yes, my dad is a tick magnet (got him the shirt to prove it lol).

My mom had fun "breaking the rules" with the boys and keeping cool in our pool!

Dylan and I went away for the weekend to celebrate our 6th anniversary. We went to the buffalo river and did the "7 mile float". We had a blast!

My mom and I got Jaxon's room painted and she finished Kazen's room, while I created a tree in the playroom.

"rooted in faith & growing in love" eventually that will be on the wall as well!
My mom bought a bed for her room...

So now it looks like a real room! Lol
We got a call that Dylan's parents were coming out, and we had just a couple days notice. We didnt want to be in the cabin intruding on their space when they came for 2 weeks, so we moved into our house without having water. The first few days we dumped buckets into the back of the toilets so we could at least pee and drove up to the cabin for showers. Then we hooked a hose up to the house, running from our house to the mule barn...took 7 hoses! During this time, Koggle and his buddy Jarred came by to visit on their way to DC. They stopped by for about 12hours, we had a great time! Kyle had never shot a gun, so he loved that! We wanted to show them a true redneck time so we shot a bunch of fireworks off too!

We had a lot of fun, the boys loved hanging out with their uncle Koggle!!!!
A few days later our well was finally dug. It was a huge process and we ended up doing a lot of the work, but we had water! We had leaks in every bathroom under the sinks, but Dylan got them fixed pretty quick! Our shower and bathtub are not in yet, so we had planned on using the boys shower/tub combo. The first night we had water I gave the boys a bath....it wasn't 10minutes later I heard water...in my bedroom! Yep, huge leak!!!! Coming under the wall, coming through the ceiling, coming out through the ceiling fan! So, I got to use my brand new pots and pans for the first time....to catch all the water! We figured out the problem, but it's not fixed yet, and I still have a stained roof in my bedroom and quite a few holes. We are currently using the basement shower(that i didn't want lol). Guess theres a positive to having 4 bathrooms after all! At least we can shower at our house!
Anyway, I have been working non-stop to get my house looking more like a home!

We started our front porch this week also! It's going to be so nice having people come through the front door instead of the basement lol!
Monday night we had a few family members over to celebrate the boys birthdays.

We had a "super" time!!!
On the 4th we attended the annual Scarbrough family fish fry/reunion! There were quite a few pairs of overalls there, way too much sweat, & not enough food! Lol. I only knew about 1/5 of the people there! Crazy! That evening we sang to Kazen and let him open a few presents! It was fun to spend time just the 4 of us!

Can't believe my baby boy is 3!!!! Where does the time go?!?!?
Mr. Jax will be 5 next weekend...I'm just freaking out a lil! Lol
Yesterday we drove Dylan's parents to Nashville to send them off to Cali. Today I am relaxing and enjoying the weather! I'm currently sitting on my front porch watching the rain....BEAUTIFUL!

And you can see our cute lil circle drive! Hahaha! Didn't want people pulling up on the grass or continuing to come in through the basement!!
Anyway, our house still has boxes in some rooms, electrical stuff not done, missing light fixtures, no baseboards, no window frames, only some doors on....but it's our house & we live here now! It feels amazing! We are so blessed beyond words! We will continue to chip away at it and get it done as we can!
